NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – UTEP beach volleyball split its Friday duals to open the Bayou Beach Duals, defeating Southeastern Louisiana 3-2 before falling 5-0 to RV Tulane at the White Sands Volleyball Courts.
The Miners moved to 3-7 overall on the season following the opening day of competition.
DUAL 1 UTEP 3, Southeastern Louisiana 2
UTEP opened the tournament with a narrow win over Southeastern Louisiana, securing victories at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 courts.
Kennedy Llewellyn and Mila Popovic put the Miners on the board with a straight-set win at No. 2, while Iana Loera and Alexa Gonzalez Monreal followed with a tight victory at No. 4. Krista Paegle and Averie Threet clinched the dual for UTEP at the No. 3 position with a hard-fought straight-set win.

UTEP dropped its second dual of the day against host RV Tulane.
The Green Wave secured the early points before finishing the sweep, though the Miners battled in several close sets, including a three-set match at No. 5 and a tight second set at No. 3.
