UTEP Men’s Golf Posts Best Finish of the Fall at the Little Rock Invite

FINAL RESULTS

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The UTEP men's golf team shot a 293 in the final round to place third overall at the 2022 Little Rock Invitational at Chenal Country Cub (Founder's Course – par 72 | 7,115 yards) in Little Rock, Ark., on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
The Miners (292-289-293—874, +10) started the third round in seventh place and tied Southern Miss with the best score (293) on Tuesday to climb the leaderboard. UTEP led the field with 53 birdies. 
 
"Our hard work is starting to pay off," UTEP Head Coach Aaron Puetz said. "This is our second tournament in a row with the lowest final round team score. Proud of Max [Schliesing] for another great finish and Jacob [Presutti] for playing tough and being inside the top 10. We've got a short week at home to prepare for another tough test in the Bahamas. Go Miners!"
 
Southern Miss (286-286-293—865, +1) won the team title, while VCU (288-281-300—869, +5) placed second.
 
Jacob Presutti (71-72-73) penciled in a 216 to place tied for eighth place. Presutti tied for the lead with 14 birdies, while he shot 9-under par on par 5 holes. 
 
Max Schliesing (77-70-69) also placed tied eighth. Schliesing got off to a slow start, shooting a 77 in the first round, but bounced back to shoot 5-under par in the next two rounds. Schliesing started the day tied for 30th and shot up 22 spots for his second consecutive top 10 finish. Schliesing recorded 12 birdies. 
 
Marcus Khaw (69-75-76—220), who registered 11 birdies, finished tied 21st, Greg Holmes (75-72-75—222) tied 29th and Kristjan Burkelca (84-78-78—240) placed 83rd.
 
Southern Miss' Ryan Dupuy (69-67-72—208) won the individual championship, while VCU's Mattias Varjun (68-69-72—209) finished second and ULM's Otto Van Buynder (72-71-69—212) placed third. 
 
The Miners shot 24-under par on par 5 holes, second best behind Southern Miss (-28). UTEP also tallied a pair of eagles as Khaw (round 2) and Burkelca (round 1) each recorded one on hole 12 (par 5, 513 yards).
