UTEP Track & Field to Open Outdoor Season at Sun Angel Classic April 8-9

EL PASO – After about a month off from competition, the UTEP track and field team will open its outdoor portion of the 2022 season at the Sun Angel Classic hosted by Arizona State in Joe Selleh Track & Sun Angel Stadium on April 8-9.

The Miners will compete against host ASU, Brown, BYU, GCU, Iowa State, Northern Arizona, Kansas, UCLA and San Diego State.

Friday's events include the m/w hammer throw, m/w high jump, m/w discus, women's pole vault, women's 100m hurdles prelims, men's 110m hurdles prelims, m/w 200m dash, m/w 3000m run and the men's 3000m steeplechase.

Saturday's events will have the m/w long jump, m/w triple jump, m/w javelin, m/w shot put, men's pole vault, m/w 4x100m relay, m/w 400m dash, m/w 100m dash, m/w 800m run, m/w 400m hurdles, m/w 1500m run, and m/w 4x400m relay.

Competing for the Miners on the women's side are Loubna Benhadja (400m H, 4x400), Chinique Brown (200m, 400m, 4x400), Oghenekaro Brume (4x100, 400m, 4x400), Maribel Caicedo (100m H, 4x100), Carolyne Chepkosgei (800m), Samantha Cordier (hammer, shot put), Karoline Daland (1500m), Carshaylah Harrison (400m H, 4x400), Krishna Jayasankar Menon (shot put, discus), Ruth Jerubet (3000m, 1500m), Celina Johannsen (pole vault), Joan Kimaiyo (3000m), Kayla Larry (hammer, discus), Denae McFarlane (200m, 4x100), Arianne Morais (javelin, shot put), Natalie Murillo (hammer, shot put, discus), Victoria Ovalles (3000m, 1500m), Marissa Simpson (100m H, 4x100), Sah-Jay Stevens (hammer, shot put), Karen Villa Medina (javelin) and Roosa Yloenen (javelin).
