UTEP Men’s Golf Concludes First Fall Event at the Gene Miranda Sunday

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The UTEP men's golf team finished tied 14th (881, +17) at the 53rd Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Golf Club (par 72 | 7,541 yards) on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Miners shot 290 in Friday's first round, 298 in Saturday's second 18 holes, and 293 in Sunday's final round. Colorado State (834, -30) ran away with the team title, while Colorado (859, -5) placed second, and San Jose State (861, -3) and NM State (861, -3) tied for third. 
 
UTEP's Marcus Khaw finished as the top Miner. Khaw finished tied ninth, firing a 213, 3-under par. Colorado State's Connor Jones (203, -13) won the individual title, while teammate Davis Bryant (204, -12) placed second. NM State's Garrison Smith (207, -9) finished third. 
 
Rounding out the order of finish for UTEP was Jacob Presutti (T45, 222), Max Schliesing (T54, 224), Greg Holmes (T63, 225) and Damon Vilkauskas (225). 
 
UTEP shot +12 on par 3 holes and -3 on par 5's. The Miners totaled 169 pars, 37 birdies and one eagle (Holmes, hole 16, par 5, 3rd round). Khaw totaled 37 pars and 10 birdies during the three-day event.
