UTEP Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season at John A. Burns in Hawai’i

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP men's golf team will commence the spring portion of the 2022-23 schedule at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the Ocean Course at Hōkūala (par 72 | 7,156 yards) on Thursday thru Saturday. 
 
The 54-hole event tees off on Thursday, Feb. 16 with an 8:30 a.m. (HST)/11:30 a.m. MT shotgun start. Rounds two and three will also start at 8:30 a.m. (HST).

The Miners will compete against host Hawai'i, Arizona, BYU, Cal, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, New Mexico, Sacramento State, San Diego State, Saint Mary's (Calif.), Santa Clara, Texas A&M, UNC Wilmington, UNLV, USC, Utah, and Washington State. 
 
Competing for the Miners are Max Schliesing (72.1), Marcus Khaw (72.5), Jacob Presutti (73.0), Greg Holmes (73.4), and Ryan Lewis (n/a).
 
For Lewis, Thursday will mark his UTEP debut. The El Paso product graduated from Coronado High School, while his father, Tommy, played golf at UTEP in the early 90's. 
 
Schliesing will compete in his sixth tournament, as he leads the team with a 72.1 scoring average. Khaw and Presutti are also playing in their sixth event of the season, while Holmes will compete in his fifth tournament of the season.
