UTEP Rolls Out “Texas Western Collection” to Celebrate 60th Anniversary of National Championship Team

EL PASO, Texas – Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the famed 1966 Texas Western College national champion men's basketball team, UTEP has partnered with adidas and Homefield to launch the "Texas Western Collection" just in time for the holiday shopping season.
 
In 1966, Texas Western made history by becoming the first school to start five black players in the NCAA championship game.  Coached by the legendary Don Haskins, the Miners stunned heavily favored Kentucky, 72-65, to capture the title.  To this day, UTEP (formerly Texas Western) is one of only two Division I schools in the state of Texas to win a national championship in men's basketball.
 
The "Texas Western Collection" incorporates the vintage feel of the 1960's and features the following items.
