ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The UTEP track and field team recorded 10 more personal bests on the final day of action at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team clocked in a season-best 3:14.75 as Munoz, Mathew Polk, Timothy Grice, and Avena competed for the Miners. UTEP's previous best time was 3:17.23 (Amari Taylor, Polk, Munoz, Avena). Today's time beat out last season's best, which was 3:15.90.

The women's 4x400 squad clocked in a season-best 3:45.36 as Martin, Oghenekaro Brume, Evans, and Newman competed for the Miners. The previous best time was 3:52.59.

Amir Williams clocked in a 7.98 in the men's 60H prelims to advance to the semis, where he fell short of going to the finals.

"We had an amazing meet to close out the weekend. Day two brought 10 more personal bests, giving us 26 total across the meet, and that's a strong indicator of the direction we're heading. Our athletes competed with belief, toughness, and a willingness to challenge themselves," first-year UTEP Head Coach Francesca Green said. "I was especially encouraged by the progress in the 4x400 relays. We saw significant drops in time, and those groups moved themselves up the conference performance list, which is exactly what we need at this point in the season. Next week, we head back to Texas Tech University for the Jarvis Scott Invitational, and that will be another important opportunity to sharpen things before we take a week to prepare for the conference championship. I'm encouraging our team to keep attacking areas of improvement and really dial in on the little details. That's where the next jump forward will come from."
