UTEP T&F Returns to Lubbock for Texas Tech’s Stan Scott Invite Friday

EL PASO – The UTEP track and field team will make its way back to Lubbock to compete at the Stan Scott Invite hosted by Texas Tech in the Sports Performance Center on Friday, Jan. 23. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+. 
 
The Stan Scott is a one-day meet and will start at 10 a.m. MST/11 CT with the women's shot put on the field, and the women's 600-yard race on the track. The field events will conclude at 1 p.m. MST/2 CT with the women's and men's triple jumps. The projected finish of the meet is 2:40 p.m. MST/3:40 CT following the women's (2 p.m. MST/3 CT) and men's (2:20 p.m. MST/3:20 CT) 4x400-meter relays.

Traveling for the men are Sebastian Avena (200m, 400m), Evan Avitia (800m), Oleksandr Blonskyi (400m, 60H, long jump, pole vault), Joshua Ford (60m, 200m), Joseph Gomez Whitten (60m, 200m), Timothy Grice (60m, 200m), Arion Hill (200m, 60H), Deondre McIntosh (60m, 200m), Zion Meaders (200m, 400m), Elias Munoz (60m, 200m, 400m), Luis Pastor (mile), Mathew Polk (200m, 400m), Israel Quintana (3000m), Paul Rotich (mile), Amari Taylor (200m, 400m), Nethaneel Taylor (mile), Zacarias Velasquez (200m, long jump), and Amir Williams (60m, 200m, 60H).
 
"We're heading back to Texas Tech University for the Stan Scott Invite as we continue progressing through the indoor season. This meet is another important step for us as we build consistency, sharpen our execution, and continue to learn how to compete at a high level," first-year UTEP Track & Field Head Coach Francesca Green said. "At this point in the season, our focus is on growth and preparation. We want to take what we learned from the first meet, apply it right away, and continue positioning ourselves to peak at the indoor conference championship."
