Miners Rolling In 2011

UTEP is off to a great start in 2011, boasting an overall record of 10-3-2, including 4-1-1 in Conference USA play. The Miners have out-scored their opponents, 36-18, including 26-7 while going undefeated in nine home games (8-0-1).

The effort will result in the program's 10th straight winning season, with each of them featuring double-digit triumphs.

C-USA Honors Pouring In

UTEP has played great soccer for most of the year, and Conference USA is starting to take notice.

Two of the past three C-USA Offensive Players of the Week have been Miners. Junior Tess Hall helped the Miners open up C-USA Play on a high note and took home the honor on Sept. 26 while fellow classmate Brittany Kindzierski torched Houston and Rice for five goals note and was subsequently rewarded by C-USA

Home Games A Plenty

The Miners are 10-3-2, including 4-1-1 in C-USA with five regular-season matches left. Good news for the team and fans alike is that following this weekend's road contests, the final three tilts will be played in El Paso. The Orange and Blue close out the year at home vs. Tulsa (Oct. 21, 7 p.m.), SMU (Oct. 23, 1 p.m.) and Colorado College (Oct. 28, 7 p.m.)

UTEP has certainly enjoyed playing at University Field, going 8-0-1 thus far in 2011. The efffort has improved the Miners to 85-12-4 at the venue dating to 2002.

Cross Talk A Big Hit

Cross Talk, the online show where head coach Kevin Cross asks all the questions that the fans want to know to his players and staff, has been a big success. The show originally on the UTEP Soccer Facebook Page but has since moved to the FREE portion of the All-Access player on UTEPAthletics.com

Promotions A Plenty As Well

There are a lot of great promotions planned for the rest of the season, with highlights including a Mariachi Band performing and Greek Night on the docket. For complete information on ticket specials, theme nights and more, check out the promotions page Also, be sure to read up on the season-long promotions.

The popular FREE clinics Mini Miners' Sunday Fun Days have been a hit, while local area high school/middle school teams can once again take advantage of The Team Days Promotion.

Fans have also been able to give back to the program while rooting for some high-octane offense with the Buy A Goal Fundraiser.

Miners In The Media

UTEP is blessed to receive tremendous coverage by the local media.

Some great examples of that recently include Tess Hall being featured on the front page of the El Paso Times, having a soccer blog from the paper devote consistent coverage television stations being out to practice on a weekly basis and radio stations having the Miners come in studio before big weekend home games.

The school newspaper, the Prospector, also does a great job, with its most-recent story covering Coach Cross' mom being honored for being a breast cancer survivor All in all, the play at home could be a big factor in the Miners securing their 10th straight winning season.

El Paso, Texas: Now The Safest Big City In The Nation

For the first time the city of El Paso has been ranked as the safest big city in the United States. El Paso moved from No. 2 to No. 1 in the annual report by the CQ Press.. The ranking comes in the same year that El Paso was named an All-American City.
