Another Strong Start To Season

UTEP is off to another solid start in 2011. The Miners took out I-10 rival NM State in the season opener. UTEP then rolled to the Border Bash title thanks to trouncing Houston Baptist and cruising past Prairie View A&M.

UTEP then took the show on the road and despite playing hard was edged out at Stephen F. Austin and then dropped an OT heartbreaker at Texas State.

The Miners still stand at 3-2-0 on the year heading into the final non-conference home games, with match-ups against UALR and Northern Colorado.

Oh What A Night

There couldn't have been a better way to start to the 2011 season. The Miners shutout I-10 rival NM State, 2-0, in front of a record crowd. Making the night more special was the pre-game tailgate, post-game autograph session and incredible media coverage.

Promotions A Plenty In 2011

There are a lot of great promotions in store for the 2011 UTEP soccer season.

The popular FREE clinics Mini Miners' Sunday Fun Days are back again while local area high school/middle school teams can once again take advantage of The Team Days Promotion.

Fans can also give back to the program while rooting for some high-octane offense with the Buy A Goal Fundraiser.

Taking Care Of Business At Home

UTEP is out of the gates strong at home in 2011, with a record of 3-0-0. The combined score for the home games has been 10-0 in favor or UTEP.

The effort has improved the Miners to a stout 81-12-3 at home since 2002.

In looking ahead to Conference USA play, seven of the 11 league games for UTEP will be held at University Field.

All in all, the play at home could be a big factor in the Miners securing another winning season in 2011. They are in search of their 10th straight. The previous nine have featured 10+ victories.

Claimed 46 athletic weekly awards. UTEP had four such awards in five years before Cross' tenure*.

El Paso, Texas: Now The Safest Big City In The Nation

For the first time the city of El Paso has been ranked as the safest big city in the United States. El Paso moved from No. 2 to No. 1 in the annual report by the CQ Press.. The ranking comes in the same year that El Paso was named an All-American City.
