Miners On A Roll
UTEP is flying high heading into Conference USA play. The Miners (7-2-1) set a school record by winning four straight road matches to close out non-conference action with plenty of momentum but their focus is strictly on the home match-ups against defending co-C-USA champion Rice at 7 p.m. Friday and offensive powerhouse Southern Miss at 12 p.m. MT Sunday.
They will mark the first two of 10 total C-USA contests. Be sure to check out the 2013 schedule in its entirety. Or if you have laser-like focus similar to the Miners, just read the preview article for the upcoming games this weekend.

Road Warriors
UTEP made some program history to close out non-conference play. The Miners won a school record four straight road games to finish non-conference action at 7-2-1.
The prior school standard for consecutive road victories (three) was shared by the 2003, 2005 & 2009 squads. The record-setting 2005 team holds the program mark for longest unbeaten streak in hostile territory at six (5-0-1).
The Miners will have a chance to equal the unbeaten streak in hostile territory when they play at UAB (6 p.m. MT, Oct. 4) & at Florida Atlantic (11 a.m. MT, Oct. 6).

Preseason Fun With The UTEP Soccer Family
Part of the reason that the UTEP soccer team has experienced sustained success over the years is due to the family-like atmosphere surrounding the program.
Coach Cross & his staff do a great job of creating that environment through the structure of the preseason training schedule. There are plenty of fun events to break up the tough practice schedule and also help the team grow closer. Among them is the team watching the inspirational movie "Glory Road" together, the always entertaining Green Grass Classic, the trust-enhancing blindfolded team-building activity, the you never know what you will get skits galore at the Get To Know You Team Dinner and heading up to the mountains on Wyler Tramway
to set team goals for the year
Winter Camp Planned
For years area soccer players have had the chance to improve their skillset through the UTEP Soccer Summer Camps. The camps have been a big success, and as result the Miner soccer program is excited to announce the creation of the UTEP Soccer College Winter Camps.
The camp, open to all soccer players ages 7-18, is the perfect camp for players that want to know exactly what it's like to play college soccer! The UTEP Soccer staff will first run campers through a college practice covering various topics like possession, 1 v 1's, and finishing. Then players will put into practice what they've learned in a game-realistic scrimmage! Campers will need to bring cleats, a soccer ball and a water bottle to camp.
The cost is $75 if campers register on or before Nov. 29 and $90 on or after Nov. 30. All campers will receive a dri-fit camp t-shirt, and the camp will be held from Dec. 6-8, 2013 at University Field. On both Friday and Saturday it will be from 6-9 p.m. while Sunday the camp will run 1-4 p.m. For complete information, download the camp brochure in PDF format..
