UTEP Miners

The Miners will kick off the 2013 campaign at home against Utah Valley University on Aug. 23. That game will be highlighted by FREE food from Rudy's at the pre-game tailgate kickoff, which is also sponsored by the UTEP Alumni Association & Student Alumni Association. It will be the start of a six-game homestand to start the season.

Overall on the year there is plenty to be excited about, with four matches against 2012 NCAA Tournament teams & a revamped look to Conference USA.

The second episode of the year was recently completed, with the senior class and Coach Cross' kids making an appearance.

Fortunately for the UTEP faithful, Jade Babcock, Kenah Linger, Tori Martyn, Azia Nicholson and Gina Soto are up to the task. The quintet has a combined 21,469 minutes of playing time while appearing in a total of 296 games. 31 goals and 29 assists for 91 points have been provided, while 118 of the 294 shots have been on goal. With numbers like that, it is easy to understand the following quote by Coach Cross.

"We have a great group of seniors leading the way this season. They are all very motivated and want to end their careers at UTEP on a high note. All five have played significant roles during their careers at UTEP."

All campers receive FREE admission by wearing their camp shirts. They will also be able to be a part of the UTEP Alumni Association pre-grame tailgate in the parking lot of University Field, with Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q.

The camp, open to all soccer players ages 7-18, is the perfect camp for players that want to know exactly what it's like to play college soccer! The UTEP Soccer staff will first run campers through a college practice covering various topics like possession, 1 v 1's, and finishing. Then players will put into practice what they've learned in a game-realistic scrimmage! Campers will need to bring cleats, a soccer ball and a water bottle to camp.

The cost is $75 if campers register on or before Nov. 29 and $90 on or after Nov. 30. All campers will receive a dri-fit camp t-shirt, and the camp will be held from Dec. 6-8, 2013 at University Field. On both Friday and Saturday it will be from 6-9 p.m. while Sunday the camp will run 1-4 p.m.
